Reclaiming Your Energetic Field: A Journey Towards Healing

Understanding Energy and Its Impact on Our Lives


Have you ever sensed someone entering your energetic field without even seeing them? Life is energy, and the vibrations around us can provide profound insights into our mental and physical states. We can tune into this connection by recalling moments of deep grief or ecstatic joy. The energy within us vibrates differently in these states, and the energy surrounding us is equally affected.


I often reflect on times when I felt drawn to someone with a calm and peaceful demeanor. Our bodies can sense that calmness through the energy they emit. There’s a certain resonance, a radiance we can feel—a warmth in someone's smile or the soothing calmness of a gentle touch.


The Challenge of Recognizing Our Own Energy


For those who have experienced trauma, abuse, or violations of our energetic space, sensing our own vibrations can be challenging. Dissociation and repression of our bodily and energetic senses can keep us from recognizing when our energetic space is being violated. We may lose touch with this vital felt sense.


One of my greatest challenges has been absorbing everyone else's energy without knowing how to express my own. Recognizing this pattern was crucial in understanding the power of energy transfer. I learned that the low vibrational energy I felt might not have originated from me but from what I absorbed from those around me. I admit, I was naive in how freely I allowed my energetic space to be hijacked by others.


The truth is, I wasn’t sure how to express my own energy into the world. I was adept at playing a chameleon, becoming who everyone else needed me to be. This left me feeling confused, anxious, and depressed. The more I learned about the sacredness of my energetic field, which spans as far as I can reach, the more I recognized how it had become weakened and porous. Outside influences began to control my mental and physical health. I embarked on a journey to reclaim my energy.


Reclaiming Your Energetic Space


Karla McLaren, in her book Language of Emotions, offered my first glimpse into this energetic field. She suggested an exercise: pick a color and imagine it spreading within and around you. Move your arms as far forward, sideways, upwards, and backwards as possible, witnessing this color fill your energetic space. As you breathe into this awareness, you can sense the energetic vibration you are reclaiming.


Imagine a blanket of protection within this space you’ve created. This space is yours. The more you step into owning it, the greater your chance of exerting your energy rather than dissociating from it or absorbing others’ energies.


Cultivating an Energetic Safe Zone


Regaining our inner bodily sense can be tough without first cultivating this energetic safe zone. Reclaiming your energy field can be a great first step toward reconnecting with your bodily awareness. There are many effective ways to reclaim this energy field. Recently, I discovered simple Tai Chi and Qigong movements. These practices not only remind me of my energetic field but also allow me to move safely and confidently within it.


Incorporating gentle breathwork into these movements has added lightness and calmness, filling my heart and body with a peaceful energy I can carry throughout my day.


The Power of Yoga and Mantra Meditation


Yoga and mantra meditation are also excellent ways to reclaim our energy fields. They connect us with light, positive, and nourishing vibrations. I tend to struggle with physical yoga poses due to bodily limitations, but the gentle movements and breathwork harmonize my body and energetic vibrations. These can be powerful tools for healing.


Chanting mantras or spiritual sound vibrations offers our energetic field an opportunity to rest in a higher vibration. The term "mantra" means "to deliver the mind," allowing us to bathe in spiritual energy that brings light, hope, and love into our energetic field. When I learned about the power of chanting or singing Holy Names and sacred mantras, I realized this would be key to reclaiming my inner light and filling my energetic field.


The Journey of Reclaiming Your Energy


I hope some of these tools can support your journey in reclaiming your energy field. The most important thing to recognize is that we are vibrating high when we feel calm, peaceful, hopeful, and loved. Whatever tool brings you closer to these sensations is worth utilizing and strengthening daily.


Reclaiming our energy field takes time, practice, and determination, especially when it has been chronically violated, repressed, or disconnected from our awareness. Celebrating moments of connectedness and recognizing the sacredness of our energetic space can support this journey of reconnecting with who we are and how we choose to show up in the world.
