I had an opportunity to deeply learn the lesson of how to grow through my own apparent failure this past week. The circumstance that arose was truly a catalyst for recognizing where I had gotten myself off-track, was consumed by the weeds of the external world, and had allowed an underlying anxiety to take over, clouding my capacity to deeply process and wisely respond to information I was receiving.
Through this misstep, I had the humble opportunity to acknowledge my errant ways, take a step back to regain perspective, and reconnect with habits that nourish my values and goals. I was able to appreciate the difficulty in learning new skills while recognizing that I had allowed external life circumstances to steer me away from the deep focus I needed to be at my best in that particular situation.
Everything in life is an experiment. I truly offered the best I could in that moment given the situation as it was. A part of me felt the need for protection in the moment, reverting back to familiar ways of responding. This response ultimately allowed the circumstance to shake me awake. The more we recognize that we are doing the best we can in the moment while being open to growth and learning lessons, the greater opportunity we have to keep moving forward in a positive direction. The key to experimenting is keeping an open mind, approaching new adventures with curiosity, and recognizing the beauty in the lessons learned within the experiment.
Opportunities for humility, gratitude, self-compassion, and course corrections were the gems I found in this apparent misstep. It was a lightning bolt that woke me up to what was not working, gave me an opportunity to gain a higher perspective, and chart a new path forward with greater wisdom, centering, and confidence that all will turn out as it's supposed to. I am grateful for those who supported me in recognizing my missteps with kindness and compassion. I'm grateful for the ways I have been able to rapidly turn things around and cultivate new experiments to support my continued journey towards my vision for serving the greater good. I'm grateful for releasing my mind from the distractions and weeds of the external factors that were dictating way too much of my life. I'm grateful to be back on track with inner wisdom, focus, and core values driving my moment to moment decisions.
Anything worth pursuing will come with detours, setbacks, missteps, and challenges. The most critical factor in facing these obstacles is returning to our guiding light found within the vision we have set for ourselves. This is where creativity can shine brightly, offering us new perspectives, seeing what was hidden in the darkness, and offering opportunities to further experiment as we strive towards realizing our higher vision, mission, and purpose for our lives.
There is no failure in life, only detours and course corrections. I am not afraid to be seen trying. Everything that happens in this life is an opportunity for gaining greater wisdom and experience that will fuel my capacity to thrive.
May your missteps be your guiding lights. May you approach your journey with an experimenter's mindset. May you approach life with curiosity and adventure leading the way.
