Snacks Throughout the Day

I heard a concept in a coaching session that I absolutely loved: exercise snacks-little moments of time set aside for adding exercise into our daily routines. I took some time to contemplate on the various snacks I wanted to add to my own daily routines and I could see endless possibilities: dance snacks, breathing snacks, affirmation snacks, nutrient dense snacks, mindfulness snacks, art snacks, etc.
What a great way to break up the habits we want to add into our lives into small bite size moments throughout the day! Instead of reaching for our phones or unhealthy snacks to get us through the day, what if we took that time to add in a meaningful "snack" that will help us reach our goals? How much better would your day be if you could add snacks that are connected to who you are or what you desire to accomplish?
One thing I also thought about is sharing our unique snacks with others. I recently had the opportunity to visit a friend in Florida and I brought one of my favorite craft projects for us to do together. She offered her favorite craft snack back. It was so much fun taking time together to share and relish in one another's passions that keep us grounded in the present moment! Granted, our craft snacks lasted 2 hours, but we also took time for 10-minute song and dance snacks every night we were together.
These snacks that are tied to our goals and visions can offer our brains small dopamine hits throughout the day that can help us stay on track, refresh our minds, and help us feel satisfied on the deepest level every time we are successful in incorporating our new little habits. Even 5 minutes a day of snacking on whatever brings us peace, joy, and gratitude on the heart level can support forward movement towards our wellness goals. The more we utilize dopamine for forward progress towards our goals, the greater satisfaction we will feel overall. This keeps the journey fresh and alive each and every day.
I know for me dance snacks are a total must! When I break up my day with a little dancing, I am better able to connect to who I am at the core and regain focus on what matters most. This allows me an opportunity to breathe in the joy of song and dance with music that moves me both internally and externally. Another snack I am adding into my day is a presence snack. Taking 5 minutes to sit in the beauty of the present moment, taking in the birdsong outside my window, and filling my senses with what is all around me, helps take me out of my head and return me to my heart.
What "snacks" do you think would be helpful to incorporate into your day to renew your body, mind and spirit? What snacks will reconnect you with your purpose and greater vision for your life? How will you schedule out time to connect with what matters most so you can give the best of yourself to the world at large?
